Home-made Christmas Trees, decorations
After refusing to pay more than $150 for a relatively ugly plastic Christmas tree this year, I decided there was no law against building my own one! I have a fairly modern lounge room and didn't really think a green plastic tree would suit anyway. After about 10 minutes of pondering a design and another 10mins in Excel, I worked out the design for this modern tree which I built in a day with the kids. 1" steel pipe down the middle, 70x70x800 base, the rest is 70x19. Materials came to $111. I then put some of those rechargable flickering LED tea light candle thingamies in the frosted glass as my Christmas lights.
So now I have a REAL Pine tree! (ha ha ha)
It got me thinking - has anyone else made their own Christmas tree, or decorations out of wood? Post photos if you have - spread the Christmas cheer!Last edited by ronafios; 5th December 2008 at 09:15 AM. Reason: Better image files

That's great. Have you found a kid at the top yet?
I reckon you could sell those. And what about a motor on the bottom to make it go round. Tacky I know, but prolly sell even better.anne-maria.

Looks good. (Where's the angel?)
