    Default hoop pine allergy

    does anyone out there have an allergy to hoop pine? i done some turning the other day and since then my stomach is covered in a rash which is as itchy as s====t and driving me mad,was wondering if i was the only one...................bob

    Sounds like you are one of the unlucky few as it is considered rare to be sensitive to hoop pine.

    Allergic alveolitis from Pine sawdust has been reported. (Malmstrom 1999 ref.4418 5)

    A 73-year-old man presented with an 8-year history of a dermatitis affecting his face, dorsum of hands, and forearms was found to be positive to colophony and saw-dust samples from four different timbers: Silky Oak, Queensland Hoop Pine, Radiata Pine and Australian red cedar on Patch testing. (Cook 1997 ref.4423 7)

    Put it in the swap forum you may be able to swap it for a particular type of timber that you want.
