    Default Hosing down shop floor

    Hi guys

Have just cleaned out my shop, which is a 2 and a half car garage.

It is very hot here in Perth and my floor is still dusty so was wondering what your thoughts are on hosing the floor down.

It would probably dry rather quickly.

Do you think it would cause and rust at all?

    Cheers

    Arry

I vacuum mine, them mop with Handy Andy. Dries pretty quickly. I give the surfaces on the TS etc. a spray with lanoline oil to prevent rust.

Also, dust plus water ==> mud. I just vacuum mine.

I used to vacuum, but there is only just so much that a vacuum can handle.

I guess if the water is only on the floor and not splashed about all over the metal things then no real harm will be done. Long spells of high humidity will cause more rust than washing the floor. Regardless of floor washing some rust prevention is required in any case to protect tools and metal surfaces.

I'm in the bush so I put a dust mask on, open all the doors & use the leaf blower.

The traditional method is to spread hanfulls of wet/damp shavings on the floor and sweep picks up all the dust

I hose mine down on occasion without apparent problems. I take the nozzle off so it doesn't splash up; just a gentle stream from the hose close to the ground in a sweeping motion. I only use this method in summer after sudden downpours have washed some of my driveway through the shed.

Wet tea-leaves used to be all the go when I was younger.
