    Default I gave up

I spent a few hours in my shed today trying to cut drawer components with a straight edge and circular saw. I came inside well before it started to get dark after getting frustrated as I wasn't getting the result I wanted. This is the first weekend I have had off in over 2 months so I wanted to get something done.

I have a single car sized shed that is quite full of tools and timber. I decided to put it off as in the next 4-6 weeks I will have a brand new 9m x 6m shed built. In it I am going to put a panel saw and 15 point inline borer. What took me 3 hours today and failed at due to the lack of adequate space and tools, I will be able to complete in less than 1 hour. All I have to do is cut and assemble 5 drawers totalling 25 pieces and assemble them.

I will put this project off until late November, after the Hands-On Expo | Brisbane

    don't blame ya mate!
you can't work properly without elbow room.
i finally built some timber racks and removed all the bits and pieces from the floor.
i can now turn around without tripping over everything.
    Christmas has come early.
    regards

Oh dear, doesn't sound like much fun! What material was you tryiing to cut?

I've been there, and used to cut one peice out of 9mm MDF to the finished size i wanted, straighten it up with a hand plane if necessary, then use it as a template to copy router a load of parts all the same size (which i just cut roughly 5mm all round oversize) I found the easiest cutter to use was one with the bearing at the top of the cutter, just an idea

Can't beat a panel saw though!

    Thumbs up

    Know how you feel George.

Now from a no elbow room situation to a 9X6 is really going from the sublime to the ridiculous!!

I was trying to cut MDF using a straight edge and 185mm saw. When I get my new shed and saw in a little over a month, it will take me all of about 10 minutes to cut with much more accuracy.

    I CAN'T WAIT.

I feel your pain mate! Got a 8x16 storage container arriving Friday to move the garage contents into so I can install an insulated floor and lots of new electrical. While I've got the place empty I have a feeling some of what goes out won't be coming back! Like all the wife's romance novels and two rubbermaid bins of video tapes. We don't even have a vcr hooked up any more!! I've got a single car garage to work in and I've been putting off finishing my daughter's first real bed till I got this done. Frustrating as hell but once it's over it'll all be worth it.

It is like money, the more you have the more you want. My shed is 9 x 7.5 and it ain't big enough! In the early days I put up a shelf over the bench area that is 2.4 x 7.5 and it is full of junk, good junk but junk all the same. It was supposed to be a garage but I finally gave in and put a huge carport in front of it. SWMBO snaffled my dedicated workshop for a rumpus/sewing room, it was under the garage and the same size.
