A new idea (that's old) Money literally made of timber
Here's one that's worth a read.
Why a small town in Washington is printing its own currency during the pandemic
"Why a small town in Washington is printing its own currency during the pandemic.
In a bid to lessen the blow of COVID-19, the town of Tenino has started issuing its own wooden dollars that can only be spent at local businesses. Will it work? "

There is no reason the vendor wouldn’t give change in std American currency. The vendor is going to redeem the wooden notes for std American currency anyway. The wooden dollars would work alongside US dollars so you could pay for something in a mix of both and get change in US currency. The key to this is the wooden dollars can not be spent outside the town, so the Town Councils welfare support stays in the town. Clever idea.
Apologies for unnoticed autocomplete errors.
