    Default Identify timber

    Hi

i am restoring two old vintage trade stimulator that are missing the rear door.
I am by no means an expert on timber identification but am guessing it is american maple or oak?
Can anyone identify the timbers used and point me in the right direction to purchase a few small offcuts to make two new doors.
    located south of Sydney

It's very hard to identify timber from photographs, but could be American maple of cherry.

Just out of interest, what is a trade stimulator?

    Definitely agree.
Would sway more towards the cherrywood way of thinking

Thanks for the replies trade stimulators were basically the first poker machines used illegally in the USA they sat on counter tops and you were supposed to win bubble gum or free games.
But in reality you won cash or cigars, this is where the saying came close but no cigar.
One of mine is a dice machine the other spins wheels horizontally like the picture attached.

I bought some American Cherry from Monaro Timbers in Queanbean. They had plenty.

Anagote Timbers in Marrickville will stock cherry and maple and most others timbers its likely to be.

They will also identify it for you, no problem. Its a bit hard from the photo.

    Cheers

Yates in Ingleburn also has a good range of American timbers. Not a really easy company to deal with though, unless you want quantity.

I know these arent really south of sydney but as we dont know where you are ...
