Thread: Identity of saw blade.

Hmm not sure that is a saw blade there, it looks quite dangerous. Judging by the three holes and the round shape visible over the rust i would hazard that this is a weed whacker(whipper snipper or whatever you call it in your area) blade. I've seen similar shaped ones with straight edges before but never one with teeth.

Many years ago Triton brought out a Blade Similar to that one.
Going on the centre, where there is a approx. 3in. rust ring, makes one think that you may be right about the Brush Cutter.

Thanks for the replies but I am now more confused. When I first came into possession of the blade (and my father had it amongst his saw blades for years prior to that) I don't think I had even heard of, let alone seen a brush cutter. The only thing I can think of that adds weight to both your comments is that the hole is so small 15mm diameter so it would be an awful small saw to mount that on. There are many small teeth around the edge of the blade and it is a mean looking item. I may have to research further just for curiosity value.

Googled Triangular circular saw blade, first hit came back to WWF in 2005. Hope that it helps.

They called it " Crazy blade " which is reserved for making curves and for cutting patterns. It is not recommended for general straight cutting. Check this link . Though it doesn't have the holes like the one you posted but they are kind of the same.

Thank you Bosox. I had a look on the link an d'yes' it is the same as I am concerned. I agree with the article in that I once tried it on a saw to see what it did and in a straight cut attempt, chopped the wood to pieces. I could turn this into a laugh a minute story with how the blade ran across the top of the particle board in an attempt to decapitate any and everyone within range. Hold on to it the adds says. The tighter I held it the more it was determined to attack me. I put it away and never touched it again until the other day when I decided to ask if anyone knew what it was. With your answer Bosox, I don't have to tell Malb that my father passed well before that blade was 'invented ' Thanks to all for your interest.

Used to use one that looked similar about 30 years ago for cutting cool room paneling. It spun round and slashed through the aluminium and foam and didn't clog up or leave a lot of sharp aluminium swarf or foam dust every where. Could work on fibro/ fibros cement sheet too maybe.

PS after a second look I don't think they so may teeth. Could be something similar though.
