Hi Samet - please provide pictures of a finished egg s=chair if you can .... I am thinking you could make it without being material at all .... using ply - in fact, bending may not work because the material must be bent across two planes, if your project is the one I am thinking of

there are many types of egg chairs, hanging, non hanging, rotating or fixed ones. This is the type I have and is lovely to sit in and watch the sun set in them.

If this is the type I could take a few measurements for you.

Used to have one of those. They aren't timber and I can not see a possible way to make it out of timber. Others may have a better idea but for a year 11 project I'd suggest something more manageable/plausible

Due to my woodworking skills my teaches has made me pick some thing hard and I was thinking to use thin strips of Tasmanian oak and strips of redgum in the middle to give it a designe and was thinking to make a jig that holders the wood while I layer and glue the pices together the only thing that makes this project hard is that there is no blueprints of this and there is no real mesurments to go off and it would take me to long to come up with plans and measurements

I think it is the only hard bit is coming up with the design and measurements of It so i have something to go off from then it would make it simpler

This what I'm thinking of doing Peter and since there is no proper blueprints to go off that's what makes it hard and if you can measure yours for me that would be a big help so I have a rought idea how big it will be and how tall thank you for your help

Google 'standard chair sizes' - you'll get a tonne of options to choose the most suitable sizes. If you really want to get detailed, try here: Must-have measurements for comfortable seating

If I were even thinking about doing that chair in wood, I'd do it as series of slices (literally think slicing an egg) glued together and then all faired to smooth curves with a sander and filler where required. There should be some way to work out the segment dimensions and cutting angles in a CAD package.

Pic indicates what I mean by slices:

That is a really good idea I'll have a talk with my teacher and it would be a lot easier to actually make a egg then cut it thank you for your help

I thought it was going to be a timber Arne Jacobsen egg chair (Egg - 3316, Lounge chair - Fritz Hansen)
I was going to get in the front row to see that built in timber ...... the link has some sizes if you want to go this way!

He meant imagine that chair in that picture, made up of 100 layers stacked on top of each other . Imagine what a layer would look like. Probably like a 'C' shape if you are looking from the top down for one of the middle layers. A few years ago one of the students at Sturt School for Wood made something like that. Perhaps if you give the school a call someone may remember who it was and put you in touch with them.
