The saw is in.
Came a couple of weeks ago.
The bloke who delivered it and set it up was very impressive. It was on a pallet in a van. He had a pallet jack and ramps and a couple of other pallets - we needed to get it up a 450mm step.
Then he spent a couple of hours putting it together.
It's a beautiful thing.

It's very nice. I used it for the first time on the weekend. Just had to square up the end of some 5x2 hardwood - old fence post.
It was so smooth and effortless compared to what I'm used to, I thought I must have missed the timber - hard to look and see if anything came off it.

I added a bandsaw a couple of weeks ago. Carbatec. The 14 inch one. $1,100. Good for my purposes.
The shed is open, but this pesky virus is making everyone, including me, a bit circumspect.
I've had a few mates come over during summer with things they wanted make or needed to fix. It has given us a chance to have a chat, which is part of the aim.
After April, I'll broaden the reach and formalise a few things.
I've had a lot of interest from my wife's friends who have all said, 'We never got to do this stuff at school.' I suggested to a few of them that I was thinking about doing some sessions on tool basics and methods where we look at planes and chisels and saws etc and different sorts of timber and we play with scraps and work up to making a simple cutting board. They were very keen to do that. It's hard for us here to imagine there are people who have never held a plane or a chisel and want to but are intimidated by them.

Of course that photo is on its side. Always happens despite it being the right way up on my desk top. Beats me.

I fixed it for you.
If the image comes straight from a phone or camera it most likely has orientation information (EXIF data) attached to it.
This need to be removed to get it to present in the forums correctly.
I do this by importing it into a photo or image manipulation app and then doing a "save as" that strips out or not save the image with the EXIF data.

Thanks Bob. I'll try and work out how to do that next time.
Strangely, it only happens on this forum.
