Incra 1000se
Just recieved my new Incra 1000se. Have no idea how to set it up, but I will have a look at the instructions latter & have a play if I get time.
I'm as happy as a pig in poop... well, nearly.

Steve,
You'll find it pretty easy and a very valuable tool. I have the 3000se and it's magic.

Likewise as per redgy. I've got the metric conversion, but have to say I get on just fine with the standard imperial one.
What I really like is the no slop in the mitre bar, plus the fact that it's so easy to accurately set whatever (within reason) mitre angle one needs - and be able to come back to it if required.
The 1000SE is fine for me - I really couldn't see any compelling reason to shell out the extra required for the 2000 or 3000 editions.

Careful mate, we don't want to look at the instructions unless we plan to willfully violate the Code. Have a practice and if you stuff it, try again. I've the 3000 and I've never (well, hardly ever) looked at the book.
Cheers,
Bob

Dan & Bob, I know you are right guys & would like to say in my own de-fence, reading instruction is totally out of charactor for me, it must be a rear moment of weakness. I will endevour to not let it happen again any time soon.

The black rails are calibrated in 1/32", so you will not be able to line up exactly on the mm marks of your metric rule.
The black rails need to be swapped for blue ones that are calibrated in mm."Clear, Ease Springs"

Ok thanks Stuart, now I understand. It looks like these are available for about $20. I paid $240 delivered for the Inca, so I am still getting a pretty good deal I think.

Have a look here http://www.woodworksupplies.com.au/category30_1.htm
They are $3.00 inc GST for each length, and the metric scales are $2 for each 400mm length."Clear, Ease Springs"

Well, I have had a bit of a play with my new 1000se & you guys were right of course, it was very easy to set up. I cut a block of timber & checked for square, & it wasn't, so a simple adjustment produced a perfect square cut on my second attempt.
Then it was time to stop playing with the things I wanted to do & start doing a few things I had to do. It was starting & start to get a bit cold & dark anyway.
Stuart, thankyou for the site. That is where I got the price from, $17 for the conversion kit.
Thanks to all for your help & advice.

I have had the 1000SE for a almost two years. I couldn't be more pleased with it. I could never go back to the standard miter gauge that came with my saw. There is no comparison. The Incra is solidly built, and totally accurate, ( don't drop it. I did, and didn't check it. and it was out of square. Didn't know that till I was finish cutting some timbers for a table I was making for my mum.). However, it was a simple adjustment and all was well, albeit, I lost an inch of length, on the table top. No harm done tho.
I will be ordering the Incra tablesaw fence in a few months for my TS. My brother has one, and after visiting last may, he demonstrated it for me. Totally awesome fence. For trully accurate work, that is the fence for me.
