Default INCRA/Jessem Mast-R-lift II vs Triton Router with built in lift

    Hello everyone,

This time I made a video about a comparison between the INCRA Mast-R-lift and the Triton router which you can operate from above.

I hope you like it and find it interesting.

    Stay Safe,

    Dennis

Thanks for that video Dennis; very interesting. I actually have the big Triton TRA001 mounted in a Jessem router lift so I get the precision of the Jessem with the outstanding features of the Triton....

.... one of which is fantastic dust control...

All three Triton models have polycarbonate shields around the entire spindle area and a hose connection in the baseplate; but I see that your MOF in the video does not. Did you deliberately remove them or are they not supplied as standard in your market? If you have them I recommend refitting them and trying the same test operations but with your cabinet wide open so it can't influence the result.

Thanks for posting the video both on Youtube and here; I really enjoy your channel.

    Hi Chief,

I remove it because it would effect the air stream with the dust extraction. But I stil have it, so I will see if what you wrote is possible. I like the idea but I do not know if I can manage to put the extraction hose to it, because of the small box.
I will look at it, and when it works, I will show the results in the next video.
    Thanks for your suggestion.

I’m with Chief Tiff. I have my Triton in a sealed table cabinet with a 125mm outlet and a directed air crossflow across the underneath of the table top, right across the cutting area of the router.
The plastic dust shrouds make a big difference to the dust extraction as it helps direct the dust into the air stream. I also have large air gaps in the top inserts. The “sealed” cabinet is virtually dust free.

Good video but as mentioned above do try the triton chip shields.

I have a tra001, pre winder handle, mounted in a cast iron wing of my table saw with a TS/LS system. It is by far my most used woodwork tool of any sort. I've had it set up for what ? well over 10 years, and have shoved tons of work through it. I hook a shop vac to the router and it gets nearly all the chips regardless of the type of cut. I've tried the fence extraction but I keep going back to the router. Putting the triton in a box makes reaching it's bits more difficult so you have to design teh box around that. I don't height wind mine because of the table wing and because my router lacks that feature but changing height using the knob on the triton is easy enough for me.

I have thought of fitting my MOF to the other side of the saw under mdf or similar. A kind forum member sent me a winder handle for it so I'd have that above table luxury, but I've got a long to do list and that isn't near the top.

If I were starting over I'd not buy the tritons. I get a spindle and set it up as per the relevant thread here. The tritons are feature rich but the quality was never there.
