Incra Mike (micro positioner) ??
Gday all
Came across mention of this doovah in some old Aus. Woodworker magazines, was sold by Incra in the early '90s as an addition to the original Incra jig (which I have) or the Incra jig pro.
These jigs allow repeatable accurate postioning to 1/32", the incra mike enabled positioning within these graduations.
I'd like to add a workable micro positioner to my incra jig, does anyone have any recollection of the above, instructions, pics, ideas???
Cheers...........Sean

On the Ultra you can use the fine adjustment with scale to do just that

I vaguely recall the Incra Mike. It was designed to fit between the jig and the fence. You made fine adjustments with a hex key. It seemed a bit fiddly to me. I doubt that you could get a new one today. You might want to check with Carbatec if they have any old stock left. You could also try directly emailing Incra (Taylor Design) in the USA. They do carry spares for their older products.
If you can fork out the $$$, the new Incra Jigs are very good (much easier to use than the original model). They have built in fine adjustment by turning a knob. The fine-adjustment scale is also very easy to read.
Cheers,
Rab.

Thanks for the replies fellas.
The jig I picked up at a local market for the princely sum of $20 (from memory) sometime last year. Never used, still in box. I was absolutely stoked as the newer Incras are out of my reach and the precision still possible with the oldie is great. Best use so far has been making my d/tail template.
The microadjust setup on the newer jigs looks pretty easy to read & set, for the tight budget reasons I have been vegetating for a while on a way to add a similar feature on mine, as you say Rab between the jig & fence. At the moment the only way to make setting between the 1/32" detents on the jig is loosening the racks & shimming a known thickness before retightening - too fiddly. Even an allen keyed setup would be better! I'm looking for pics or anything to see how the mike worked.
Thanks for the tips, will try Carbatec & Taylor design for help. Carba's may still have them on order........
