what filler do I use
Hey all, Happy new year,
I have recently been given a slice of Jarrah from a friend and I intend to use this as the top for a coffee table for him. There is a small section just behind the natural edge that looks like it has been eaten away which I need to fill.
my intention is to fill it using an epoxy resin and then finish it, but I thought I would throw the question out to you all to let me know if there are any better ideas for uneducated ones like myself.
also to finish the natural edges I plan to just use a wire buff lightly to bring it out, any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated as well.
all the best for the year to come
thanks

Ill second that, I have used casting resin with good results on a tale or two I have made.
And have been more than happy with the results.

I'll third it. Clear epoxy resin fill and wire brushing the natural edges works fine. I've also had good success putting a fine circular wire "brush" head into my drill and working the edge of slabs. Cleans them up nicely. Hardware's sell wire brush heads for drills.
If the area needing filling is part of a gum vein, you can colour the epoxy resin by adding black oxide to the resin and mixing in thoroughly. It will come out looking exactly like the rest of the gum vein.
