Insert threads - where to buy
Hi
I am after insert threads that I can drill into some material and then use knobs with a threaded bolt to attach to it, to use in jigs etc
Similar to this:

Are these the same below as they seem to have a hex head?
Insert Nut Hex Drive 1/4 x 20 x 12mm
I am in Perth.
Cheers

They pretty well look like the same thing, the hex head would be for installation with an Allen key.
He also had a T nut in the frame near the start of the video (45 seconds in). If you need a threaded insert in thin boards, these may be a better option than the screw-in type. They may also give you a bigger thread option as the ones in the ad are only 1/4".
You can usually find T nuts at a local hardware, look in the furniture fittings section. I have had a lot of blank looks when I ask for them.

How robust/heavy duty will the jigs need to be?
We have one kind of anchor that goes into (mostly) gyproc/plaster board/drywall/sheetrock. Steel with an open threaded center core, 6mm max. Problem may be the 25mm length, in a wall, no big deal.
The other one is athreaded steel collar with pointed wings. You drill a hole in the wood, all the way through, and pound one of these things into the hole from the back side. Bolt goes in from the front. Used here to keep heavy things from shifting on a shipping pallet.
Mostly 6mm, some 12mm. I see them, harvest what I can, but where they come from, who males them, no idea.

Bunnings have those knobs and some fittings but not sure if they have the inserts but worth a look if you have a store nearby. I know they have the kind that you hammer into a surface so you can screw the know into but not sure about the kind in the video.
Reality is no background music.

McJings (online) have these in a variety of sizes, also insertion tools, knobs to suit, etc.
Cheap, and quality is just fine.

Arry,
You could try Carba-TEc - see here - Hardware Fitting Kits : CARBA-TEC.
I'm not sure if they sell the individual componets separately though but worth a try if you have a store nearby.

ebay has them also, be sure to search worldwide. If your buying a decent quantity I find ebay the cheapest source. There is one supplier in particular in the US who does lots of about 30 or 50 as I recall, brass good quality for about half what yardley are quoting on their website. Unfortunately I can't access ebay right now so can't ofer a direct link.
T nuts are cheaper and if you insert them from the opposite side are very strong because your spreading the tension load across the large steel head area. Depends on your project which are a better solution.I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

Check out Hafele " Rondoefix Connecting bolts", they are located in Malarga.
You could also check out Galvins Cabinet making supplies in Howe street Osborne Park ( near Galvins Plumbing Supplies) as they carry a large range of fittings for Cabinet making.
