International Shipping experiences (COVID era)
I thought it might be useful to have a thread detailing current experience with ordering internationally while the virus ravages our world.
I'm keen to know how people are finding the experience - availability/ease/delivery times etc.
Please keep replies to actual experience rather than opinions and speculation.
Me:
China - haven't ordered anything recently
US - Netgate SG-1100 network thingamabob: Direct from US manufacturer. Arrived within 5 days
UK - Axminster. Usually have stuff within a week of ordering. Latest order on 21 April, still not here, and Axminster still trying to work out where it is. Delays due to lack of passenger flights which cargo piggybacks on.
I also ordered some work clogs from a VIC company 6 weeks ago, which haven't arrived - they're apparently stuck somewhere between here and Europe.
So my current experience is US ok, Europe nope, China unknown.

China is very hit and miss. I'm waiting on things ordered in early March but have had deliveries of other things within two weeks. (I have been placing a lot of orders during lockdown but I tried to order from Aus where possible to avoid long delays)
Those were the droids I was looking for.

My recent experience. Both eBay purchases.
China - placed an order 2 weeks ago. Australia Post says it is due for delivery today.
Japan - ordered 5 weeks ago. Package wandered about a bit in Japan then was returned to sender by Japan Post. I’ve been given a refund.
Regards,
Brian

China and India are problematic. Both had government imposed restrictions on outgoing items that are only partially lifted. Ship time from China for a 500kg item has taken 10 weeks. Air freight from China is very tough because the government has prioritized export of PPE and medical supplies. India had some of their ports completely closed. Freight from Europe hasn't been a problem. Domestic shipping has been a little slower than usual.
Innovations are those useful things that, by dint of chance, manage to survive the stupidity and destructive tendencies inherent in human nature.

Have order two things from China.
The first item was ordered 9 weeks and is still not arrived.
The other was ordered in mid April and supplier contacted me 3 days after the ebay order went through to say they have internal transport probs and delivery would take longer than 12 weeks and offered to cancel my order which I did.
Stuff ordered from the east coast Ox hA Then up to 3 weeks to get to WA.

I've only ordered several small items from China and 1 order from the UK through Amazon (fulfilled by a 3rd party though). Chinese deliveries were 2-3 weeks delayed but I got them all. Amazon order is a week late now and no further information regarding it's status other than it shipped. Deliveries from interstate have been mostly ok, some delayed by a day or two.

I recieved a part I ordered from China in Mid February only yesterday. I have stopped ordering from China but a Powtran order was delivered without much delay at all though that was some weeks ago. To give some idea of what is or was going on Powtran closed for the Chinese NY and were allowed to re-open about six weeks later. A mate of mine has a shipment of product which is a full container and he won't OK the shipment until he can go over and inspect as he does every time so it is there for god only knows how long.

Was speaking with Lie Nielsen Aus and even their stock fulfillments are MIA. They said they're actually considering having another shipment of some stuff sent again with another carrier.

Usually receive stuff from UK, either by Royal Mail or courier, in 6-7 days, record is 3½ days, sometimes longer.
Have two outstanding packages, both entrusted to Royal Mail as follows:
- Friday, 24 April 2020, and
- Monday, 1 May 2020.
Neither has arrived yet.
But their aren't many planes flying!
Down here, Hobart, it is commonly quicker to get stuff from Europe or Japan, than from Sydney. USA is usually much slower and China is painfully slow.

Ordered an item from Germany on the 19th March, has not arrived. Ordered the exact same item from Ireland on the same day and it turned up within a week. Have since bought the same item from Ireland again and it showed up in similar time.

The mate I mentioned with a container in China was just here and he told me that DHL have lost a 20kg parcel from the US and admit they have not got a clue where it is nor the staff to find it so bad luck and try again.
