    Default Japanese woodwork

Can someone please send me some links to some Japanese furniture makers. Also if anyone has been to Japan have you got any suggestions for places to visit, both non woodwork and woodwork related. Cheers. Spence.

Have a look at the old town of Kawagoe, north of Tokyo, in particular the tool shop in the main street.Blade shop Kawagoe.jpg

Also, go to the Picasso art museum at Hakone, then wander through Hakone town and look at the woodwork shops there. mainly marquetry and hakone ware puzzle boxes.

Alex the shops name is Machikan. I was a regular there for seven years and formed a great relationship with a man called Takeshi. The shop is located in Kurazukuri, the old street. Damien.

Thanks Damien, it was you who sent me there some years ago. Great owner who gave an excellent sharpening demo.
