Jarrah problem...
HI guys... have 8 jarrah steps call cut... 2 per rung.... there 1m x 210mm x 50mm.... solid & just been put through plainer & thicknesser... look great... NOW....
.... wants me to put a non-slip self adhesive which is like sand-paper.... on 4 of the steps...
I don't think I should put it onto raw timber... I'm believing I have to seal it first... BUT WHAT WITH.. what is best for Jarrah...
I don't usually work with Jarrah... should I use a putty to fill all the little gaps.. before I seal... of leave it natural & get a really good type of seal/lacquer... as its traffic area steps....
... 2nd part to problem... son said I should put araldite under self-adhesive... to make sure its really really secure... I DON'T think so.... Im sure this will lessen the integrity of the self-adhesive....
HELP HELP HELP......

Is it indoors Kerry ??
If in side I'd think about Danish Oil or maybe hard wearing lacquer.
Out side Danish Oil and give son the remains so he can do it often
Now if you use DO you need to stick the strips first of course
Edited addedd
Kerry to make them no slip you could route V grooves along the length of the Jarrah it makes an inverted V if you do it close together no need for tape, glue etc.

Inside... I believe...
Yes.. yes believe steps are for inside... yes that was my dilemma knowing if the self adhesive tape will stick to raw timber... even sanded back & free of dust.. still believe the wood will air & the self-adhesive would eventually lift... so I think also a lacquer then put no-slip on... ( already have the tape he wants on it... ) its like sand-paper... very course. LOL wanted to cut it up and try it as sanding disc's hehehehe....
Thanks all comments are helpful.. still reseaching...
