Jarrah 1mm thick sheet for diy veneer
Hi,
I am building a bookshelf and am using some jarrah veneer mdf sheets as shelves. Only probl is that the exposed edge shows mdf - can you buy some really thin (1mm) sheets and cut up as required to diy some veneer edging ?
I think I saw some at the Timber show in Melbourne Exhbition Centre a few weeks back but I didn't think about buying it at the time
Thanks,
Rob.

Consolidated edgings have some in rolls. Bunnings will do a special order for you if it isn't in stock.

Cab Makers anywhere.
Rob. Just about any Cabinet makers will have .4m Edgetape.
( point 4 of a mm ) Preglued. Just ask in your area.
Iron it on and then carefully run a chisel to clean up the excess and then light grit ,( sand ) and smooth the edge.
I reckon I can get you a metre or two.
Its my turn to help. Why? ...cause 've been well looked after here on this site. And I'm new.
Cheers Tony

Hi Rob.
Just a thought, I'd be tempted to forget the veneer and cut up a strip of Jarrah instead and glue it on. It would be much more robust than just veneer on the edge which might get knocked one day and then chipped.
regards
Gino

Hi,
thanks for the replies. Got some from Peter Scott-Young in Ringwood. The colour is slightly lighter than the veneer on chipboard I already have but it will be fine.
On another note I am finding it very difficult to get someone to cut up sheets of chipboard to size - they all say "don't do cutting". I could cut it with my circular saw but there's really no way it will be as square and straight as you do with a proper saw in a factory.
Rob.
