Old Jarrah for cutting board.
Hi
I have scored a pile of jarrah from an old building built in the 1940's. as payment I thouht I would make the person who gave me the wood a cutting board containing some of the Jarrah that they gave me.
My concern is that I dont know what the wood would have been treated with back then and is it safe to use?
Regards
Mornay

Probably was not treated with anything, but, if it was painted then there is a high probability it was with a lead based paint.
In either case, I'd follow Bob's suggestion.
If you do use epoxy, then I would dilute it with an equal amount of acetone or MEK to facilitate penetraion and grain filling.
