Default Jet JWP 16" Open stand price at auction?

    Hi All
A Jet JWP 16" Open stand planer will be coming up for auction and I wanted to get peoples feelings as to what would be afair and reasonable price to pay for this at auction. The Jet page quotes $1500, while major woodworking has it for $1395.

Any comments about price and anything relating to this machine would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on the condition... and how much you bid!

If it's "as new" and has an "as new" warranty then anything below your best retail price, is a good price.

If it doesn't have a warranty, then I would be looking at maybe up to 80% of retail.
    Cheers.

    Thanks Vernon
That's a good point, and I will check on that before I bid.

    Cheers

Don't forget to price in any "buyers premium" charges and sometimes "handling charges" that auction houses bung-on.

and GST, which goes on top of the bid price+buyers' premium.

    If bid price is $100 + buyers' premium 15%= $115 +GST = $126.50

I hate to tell you this but the sale is off. I just wasted 2 hours driving in and out of the city and 1 days leave from work.
I'm disappointed that the sale is off as we missed out on the chance for some bargains, but it happens thats life. What really annoys me is that I checked Pickles website last night and this morning before I left, on the chance it might be called off. There was no mention of the cancellation. There was a lot of unhappy gentlemen leaving the carpark in a huff. There were two Pickles representatives there to explain the situation, and cop the flak, who explained that the contents of the business have been taken over by another company.
I expesssed my annoyance about the lack of updated information on their website, I wasn't trying to shoot the messanger, all he could do was appologise and point the finger at the HQ in Sydney. I feel better now, thanks.
Oh well, back to installing the bathroom vanity.

Teaches you to pay attention to the forum... we were told in the MIK thread, that's why I posted before "we both missed out".

True! I did have a quick glance this morning at the forum, unfortunately I missed the post. Although, this information still should have been available on the pickles site.
