    Default JET manuals

    Why is it that JET machines supplied in Australia come with such crappy manuals????

    I own 4 different JET offerings (tablesaw, lathe, jointer/thicknesser, and drum sander). In each case the local manual is the bare minimum required to assemble and operate the machine - in the case of the drum sander not even that.

    In every case I eventually go looking online through the JET USA site, and there I find infinitely better and more detailed manuals available. I just had an issue with the 16/32 drum sander for which the local manual supplied (all 8 pages of it....) was no help at all. Download the JET USA manual and there are detailed instructions (with high quality photos) showing exactly how to fix the problem. I think it was on Page 24 of 28 !!

    Same thing with the JPT-310 jointer thicknesser - the USA manual covers accurate setup and alignment of the tables in way more detail than the manual I got with my machine.

    Just a heads up for any JET machinery owners......

    Exactly the same problem in U.K.

    Do they think we are just naturally more able than their own countrymen, or could they be saving money!

    I remember that I didn't know about the USA manuals when I assembled the drum sander - the local manual had so little detail on the assembly procedure that I basically just worked off the photo on the front page !

    When mine looked the same as the picture, and I didn't have any bits left over, I called it a success !! A slight improvement over Scheppach, where the machine ended up looking like the picture but with several parts left over. Luckily I was able to compare notes with other forumites in that case to check that we had the SAME parts left over....

    I know that owners of Carbatec machinery often go hunting down Grizzly (USA) manuals for their equipment, but I'd expect better of JET.
