    Default how to join?

    yes i am a noob and only woodwork i have done was back in high school.

    how do i join this together... http://i13.tinypic.com/2lvg302.jpg dowel?

    how do i join this together...
    Best way would be to make it from only 2 pieces and use a cross halving joint. (See attached pic) If it's already 3 pieces then I guess dowels would work, but it's harder to get that accurate.

    As for fixing it into the frame, tricky with the glass in place. What about just glueing it to the glass with silicone glue?

    ah bugger! i'll go buy me another peice of jarrah.

    yeah the glass will be removed. what i am trying to do is replace the single panel of glass and making it 6.

    any more tips.

    Ianab is precisely right on the Cross Lap joints, As for inserting into that Transit window? Permanant? Is it to be an Overlay? They make simulated Muttins that fit in double glazed windows and they utilise a sliding clip. I have some in a window of a room addition that has a small dowel "tit" sticking out of each end. A mating hole is in the frame of the sash. My pieces are thin enough to Bow out and allow pointing the dowel tips into the holes (Indentions) As you have pictured, I don't think you can bow the pieces.

    You could make them semi-permanant by inserting in the space and securing with a small brad or pin nail. Or use doubles sided tape to secure to the flat surface, Perhaps hot melt glue...
