I space mine so that I get approx 5mm between and whatever finishes at the end after working from the center.
Better suited to hardwood in my opinion.
Hole saw has the pilot drill in the center,no problem.
I was just trying to explain this joint I dident say it was better than a mortise and tenon,at least I don't recall.

Okay, I admit to being lost. I thought you were talking about cutting tenons with something similar to a plug cutter, then cutting away the waste with the saw, leaving the tenons intact.
A pic would be really good about now.

It may be, as others have suggested, that I have been taken for a ride by a troll; but, let us assume for a moment that Roddy is serious in his contention. If so, his post seems to me to be the silliest assertion that I have come across in two years on this forum. It conflicts with the experience of generations of woodworkers.
I think you will acknowledge that I am usually the soul of politeness to new members; but when someone comes up with a dogmatic and paradoxical assertion without supporting it with a shred of evidence, I can, given extreme provocation, be induced to spit the dummy. In this case I asked two sarcastic questions, but the other five were serious, and suggested good reasons why Roddy's assertion is untrue.

Hi Rocker,
I thought your questions were good - some serious asking for further clarification and some not so serious. Funny that the questions, all of them, were very close to what I was thinking too.
In my humble, personal opinion, unless some pictures get posted, I'm done with this thread and Rocker getting rocked.
