Default Show me a better Joint

Someone was asking which was the strongest joint.
Let me explain which I believe to be a very strong joint,EG:.

Timber 100mmx20mm ,connecting to timber 70mmx50mm.

Drill with a hole saw,4@x15mm dowels evenly spaced, into the end of the piece,100x20,cut the shoulders on the panel saw, marry the dowels to the stile 70x50,mark and drill your 15mm holes, glue, best joint in the world.

    Roddy,

Have you cavassed this idea in Fine Woodworking?

    I wonder:

    1. Why you think a mortice and tenon joint would be inferior.
    2. How you manage to drill accurately aligned holes of a consistent diameter with a hole-saw in end-grain, when most other woodworkers would use a drill bit.
    3. Why you use 15 mm dowels in 20 mm stock. This would mean that there was only 2.5 mm of wood on either side of the dowel.
    4. Why you think that dowel joints, which are glueing almost entirely long grain to end-grain, would be stronger than mortice and tenon ones, where you are glueing long grain to long grain.
    5. What are shoulders in a dowelled joint? And why would you cut them on a panel saw.
    6. What have you been smoking?
