Kapex ks120 blade recommendation
Hi Guys
I recently acquired a used kapex that needs a new blade.
Should i buy a festool blade or another brand?
Any specific blade you would recommend for furniture making, not construction work.
thanks

I haven't tried any other blade in my Kapex other than the standard one that came with the saw.
Have you investigated the possibility of perhaps cleaning and having it resharpened, perhaps even repaired if needed?
I actually think it's an amazing blade, when sharp and clean, it does melamine with zero chip out, crosscuts like a champ, and hasn't failed to do anything I've asked of it.
I am also keen to hear other opinions of course, but I think the default blade that comes with the saw is pretty outstanding.

At ~$300 I should bloody well hope so!
According to the Festool site, the standard blade is this one: https://www.festool.com.au/products/...0-tooth_494604
Negative rake, triple chip means it's essentially a non-ferrous metal blade, so anything that has comparable geometry should give you a similar result. Here's a couple that fit the bill at less than half the Festool price
https://www.totaltools.com.au/power-...ade-2608644440
https://www.carbatec.com.au/blades/c...-ferrous-metal NOTE: this one has a wider kerf, so the laser guides might need to be adjusted
They're not 260mm though, so unless the saw depth can be adjusted down a few mm they won't go all the way through...trust Festool to have non-standard sizing

The 494605 80 tooth blade is a significant increase in quality over the 60 tooth standard supply. At a mere $337 locally you may well find a supplier on ebay who might send one from Europe. Maybe this guy? That €100 pirce includes 19% VAT which is not charged on exports. That brings it down to about $133 at an exchange rate of 0.63 - current. That leaves about $200 to cover the postage......
AFAIK, Leitz make the blades for Festool, which is why they are excellent blades.

I love Axminster to bits, but unless I'm doing something wrong somewhere, they no longer ship anything Festool to Australia (or potentially anywhere outside the EU). When I try and add any Festool products to my cart, the button greys out (note, at the start of the session, I'm selecting Australia as the country of currency and shipping). I figure there's no point trying to fudge this.
My impression was that they got pinged by Festool and told to adhere to their dealership agreement and sell only in their approved area.
Are you, by any chance, using a freight forwarder? If so, are you happy to share the details?

Happy to chat about options by pm with anyone ready to buy (but not just general interest!). We expats have a trick or two up our sleeves (and old neighbours)

Yeah, not with the Straya Tax premium, but I think the local German price is fair at €100, given the quality. I have done a frightload of cuts with my 80 toother in the last 7 years - 95% in nasty hardwoods too, and I suppose a touch up sharpening would be in order, but it still performs beautifully, and the smoothness of the cut is quite something.
Pretty sure that the Festool router bits are also made by Leitz. (as was my 35mm Colour Auto-Focus Enlarger back in my darkroom days of the mid 80s - a FABULOUS bit of kit)

That link doesn't work - it's a link to your order, so it's private. Can you link to the seller's Ebay page?
Cheers,
