    Default Karate Belt Stand/Hangar

Just wanted to post some pics of a Karate belt stand in progress. I didn't take pics from the get go, or as was chopping up the pieces but the end result seems to be working. Will update with finished product soon. Its a birthday pres and that is nearing so need to finish asap.

The timber is English Ash, with Bamboo plugs (to replace screws), the name is hand carved using engraving tool, first 3.2mm engraving bit, then Demel, no.106 size head engraving bit for finer detail. Although I should have done the small bit first. This will be sprayed with satin acrylic clear coat. I handle a spray can better tan I do a brush.

Looks good, how are the belts attached?

On another note, in all the styles I've trained in, you don't get to keep your old belts. When you get your new belt they take the old one.

Neil, I just stitched 25mm wide waist band elastic into a loop, handle with needle and thread also!! That's interesting, our guys just get presented with the new one and their certificate.

i was also hoping that it would give him inspiration to keep going and fill it.

Nothing wrong with using it as inspiration, it is a good idea. Mind you hope he only uses it for the old belts, training every day , he would get sick of using the elastic ties .

Definitely, they will only go on when he grades to next level. He's currently on orange belt and I haven't finished all the belt ties yet, so got the yellow to go on next. Also this is for his birthday so he hasn't got it yet. Trains twice a week and also constantly practices, even walking through Woolies he's doing his carta.
