    Default KFF Bandsaw

Has anyone heard of KFF machines. I have a band saw which I came by a while ago
and it has rather flimsy blade guides and one is busted. I can't find anything on google
about this brand. Thought maybe some one may know if spares are available
before I try to make one.
    Cheers Robbo37

Some photos of the beastie. The 4th is a bit blurred but shows the busted lower guide.

I didn't realise just how untidy the shed is.

That is a very common saw and is sold under many brand names. Get along to the local Hare & Forbes place with the offending part and they should be able to help.

I upgraded the guides on a similar bandsaw about 4 years ago and got mine (upper only) from Timbecon.

The price might help you decide to make your own.

    Default Guides

I bit the bullet and purchased the Carbatec guides. That has almost doubled the value of the saw

Sometimes we spend more on the parts for the machine then we do on the machine. That was certainly the case for the lathe that I restored a couple of years ago.

matthias did some experiments with side mounted guide bearings like that and it seemed that they made the saw very loud,
did you find that those style of guides made alot more noise?

When I had a saw like that I replaced the metal side guides with hard wood blocks. I used jarrah and just gave the guides a rub with wax now and then. Any of the quite hard woods would do. The saw ran nice and quiet. As required I would square the block ends on the sander. Sort of wish I could do this with my current bandsaw but the design does noy allow it. Dont take long for roller bearings get noisey.
