    Default Kitchen server hatch

Hi folks. I'm about to restore a kitchen server that has a vertically sliding door within the wall, from what I can see the sliding mechanism has been removed. Does anyone have any ideas where such a mechanism or a suitable replacement can be had? House was built late 4o's.

Are you sure the mechanism has been removed many servery slides just consisted of a timber channel for the door to slide in the door is loose enough that it can be offset when open to hold it up

Is it possible that it works the same way as a double hung sash window, only using the mechanism for the bottom sash?

    Thank for the response China.
I understand what you mean, and may be a method i will have to contemplate, but what was there I think, may have been a spiral rod within a steel tube that requires a small amount of force to move it either up or down.
Mechanism no doubt from the distant past and no longer available.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I did think that a possibility at first but, on inspection managed to rule it out.
