What should i do with Kwila Posts?
I have just built a Gazebo and i've used Kwila posts and supports, It isnt treated but is exposed to the elements ...
The posts arent in the ground they are set above on post anchors to minimise water retention ...
How can i "treat" the wood? and what should i do to "finish" it? oil? all timber is dressed
Any help is appreciated.

G'day 29687. There are very good decking oils for just that type of job. Hop down to Bunnies , Mitre 10 or a good paint shop and they will help you out.
Feast & Watson and Sikkens make excellent products. They will protect and preserve the timber and keep the colour.

from what i have learnt over the years. the best thing to do is install kwila, leave it for 2 - 3 months to allow the tannin (natural oil) to bleed out. after this period, then seal with sikkens or feast and watson, etc....
when i install kwila decks, posts, i always seal the endgrain with intergrain dimension 4. this stops anymore moisture getting through the endgrain and also still allows the tannin to be released through the other faces of the timber.
there is lots of info available about this. try looking for the sikkens website and other manufacturers websites.
btw, when first installed, kwila is a serious bleeder.
i would'nt install over a tiled or concrete area. i recommend strictly over dirt.
regards, justin.
