Default Ladies and gentlemen, it has happened:

Making a traditional framed ledge and brace door in Oak - YouTube

    At about 19:40 onwards.

Someone in a Youtube video has "checked for square"... found out not quite square, and fiddled around a bit to fix.

... I don't think I've actually seen someone not simply checking for square to demonstrate that everything they've done or the tools they're spruiking are not in fact perfect.

    Chris

Or checking the measurements of something during a dry fit to check they are right before assembly.
Or doing a test cut on a spindle moulder or router setup on an offcut to check the fit before running the whole job lot through.
Just those simple things that pros take for granted but hobbyists probably don’t.

Back in the days i made many hundreds of these types and other doors,
No point worrying about squareness until after the wedges go in.
Wedges need to be the length of 3/4 of the style width.
Always leave overhang on the stiles and cut off later.
If the frame is out of square take it out of the cramps and and tap (or drop heavily) the corner on the floor to square it up.
You also have to check for twist and if there is place the bottom rail ( or each overhung stile) on the floor, stand on it to one side near the stile and push or pull the opposite top corner to remove twist.

I really like his videos - he's incredibly patient/obsessive with details, and does some amazing stuff.

I agree - but what to me takes him to the next levels is that he shows his stuff-ups and how he fixes them.
