    Default Learning material recommendation

    Hi there,

I was wondering if someone has any tips of good books or videos about learning how to properly use some power tools. I'm not the over zealous type, indeed when young I had some fun running with an aluminium external antenna on a rainy day.

However I believe that any powered blades deserve respect. )

What I'm trying to achieve is understanding about operation and safety.

Reading about spindle moulders I see a lot of people saying "these are some of the most dangerous machines" but I confess I have trouble understanding how can it be far more dangerous than a table mounted router. Am I missing something?

Same thing with table saw. A lot of people talk about the danger of loosing a finger but sincerely I don't see myself putting my fingers too close to the blade so I found it more interesting to learn about kickback.

    I thank you in advance.

It would be a good idea to sign up for a woodwork course somewhere like WEA or TAFE etc, or go along to some of the woodwork clubs and talk to members who can show the correct way to use these machines safely. Good luck.

    Claw,

TAFE is out of the possible. I was surprised to find only cabinet making focused courses and worse, most require access to a workshop, being targeted on apprentices.

    Glennet,

Awesome recommendation. Had forgoten Tauton DVDs and books... )
