Lee Valley stream has started to flow
Received my second order from LV yesterday. Contained:
. Gripper System
. PSA sandpaper 80 grade
. Magnetic corner chisel
. Veritas standard block plane
Have not used the plane yet, but it feels beeeauuutiful!
The first order was only for:
. #6 3/32 drill and countersink
. PSA sandpaper 180 and 220 grade.
The STUFF I am really waiting for comes back with my daughter who returns after living for 3 years in the States. Her gear ships at the end of this month.
. 4 x 50" Bessy K-Body clamps
. 4 x 25" Bessy K-Body clamps
. Veritas #6 Fore Plane
. Veritas Low-angle smooth plane
. Osborne Mitre Gauge
. 1/8 Drill & countersink
. Second Gripper.
This should get the monkey off my back until at least the woodworking show in June. Then it starts all over again.

Alex, I believe that Rob Lee aspires to produce products as good as the ML392. Should he succeed, then he should be out of business the following week.
Bitingmidge, for the shipment received yesterday the only cost was the shipping cost of USD29.33.
BTW, you may have noticed on the news earlier this week that the duty free component for travellers has been increased from AUD400 to AUD900. I trust that this will also apply to goods being purhased from overseas by non travellers.

Hi, Have just been doing a bit of a search on this as I am looking at some stuff from overseas myself ,and it seems that it does NOT apply to goods purchaced from overseas.
This from the Aust customs website:
"Unaccompanied baggage does not receive the same duty/tax concessions as goods you bring with you. This also applies to articles posted to Australia"
It seems they don't have quite enough of our money yet!
The link below is to the page at australian customs about internet purchaces
http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4376
According to their site the old rule of under $50 import duties still applies.
I would love somebody to tell me I'm wrong, but thats what I've been able to find on the matter.
