Default Tasmanian Oak- How to go Blonde

    Hi all
I am custom building a Computer Desk with Tassie Oak and am wondering what Varnish? designers use to get the 'Blonde' look.
I would like to match the finish on the table in this site:

Single Drawer Coffee Table | Designed Furniture | Unique & Custom Furniture | Batemans Bay, Canberra, Ulladulla, Moruya

    Cheers

    Hi H
I use a lot of Vic Ash/Tas Oak ... it is not from any one particular tree but a group of mountain tree varieties ....... more a generic name for E Ash/Oak woods.

There is a wide colour difference in the Tas Oak range.... to get the right colour I need to take an off cut up to the timber yard and ferret through their stock ...

    Regards

    Rob

I wouldn't think the would be any bleaching involved. Looks like good material selection to me.

A restorer could elaborate on this but I have memories of using Oxalic Acid.
Mainly to remove tannic stains from Tas Oak etc but it may have a bleaching effect also.

    Thanks all for the replies.
I was thinking/hoping it was as easy as dipping some New Guinea Rosewood into some gloss and watch that beautiful red bounce out.
