Leigh Super Dovetail Jig Help
Hi WWF,
I have had my Super18 for 6 months now and have spent about 20 hours playing around with it.
I have a small problem with it and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. When using the router it tends to get stuck when moving from side to side, particularly on the far left as the side of the jig is higher then the pins.
I have filed the edges of the faceplate but it still gets stuck on the pins and sides. Just today I noticed that not all the pins are totally flat. The have what looks like a bit of dag left over from the moulding process. I sanded a few flat but thought I best leave the others and check with WWF to see if this is common.
Any ideas on what to do?
Not only does it make it harder to router when it gets stuck you can actually see the variations in depth cut as you move between some of the fingers

Hi Damienol,
I'd be taking it back to where you bought it. You shouldn't need to be filing and adjusting things on a Leigh product! Have it replaced!

Thanks Rob
I have sent an email to Carbatec so will see what they come back with.
I have noticed that the jigs they use in their videos look to be finished a lot better.
Anyone else had these problems?

You could also send an email to Leigh Tech Support and ask them what you should do. I would avoid saying that have been sanding it down though.

Ok conversations underway with both Leigh and CarbaTec who have both stated that this is very unusual. I have sent them the following pics. The first one is of the pins. All of this pins have this raise part.
The second one is the router against the side of the jig. That is the best pic I could get. Basically it is showing the jig edge is higher than the router base when sitting on the pins. High enough that I have to lift the edge of the router to get over the jig The third one shows where I have filed the edge of the router base plate to help it clear the edge of the jig and help it move smoothly. It still gets stuck.
