Default Liquid Hide Glue. Shelf Life?

I have been assigned the task of repairing a seriously injured antique (c 1850) chair and thought I might use Titebond Liquid Hide Glue instead of the hot stuff.
I therefore visited both of the retailers in Adelaide who I know to stock this product. In one the "best before" date was 09/08. The other (larger) store had no date stamped on the bottles whatsoever.

According to the Titebond website http://www.titebond/ Liquid Hide Glue has a shelf life of 12 months when stored below 75°F (24°C).

Being of a cautious nature I decided to go hot but I would be interested to know of others experience when using this product beyond the shelf life and whether the omission of a date on the bottle is widespread or purely an Adelaide phenomenon.

    Cheers, Jeff

I'd stick with the Hot version of hide glue. Forgiving..re-gluable....proven over time.
I've made Liquid hide glue (by adding Urea) and it is not a patch on the real stuff, except that it is already liquid.
All the above is just IMHO
