Looking for some advice and supplies to get started
Hi,
I have just registered for this forum today. Our daughter is getting married in 2009 and I have said that I would make a piece of furniture for their wedding present.
My daughter and future son in law have come up with a sketch of what they would like, which is a wall unit or display cabinet which incorporates some shelves, glass door display case, drawers etc.
They prefer a dark coloured timber.
I have done a bit of cabinet making over the past 30 years, but not much lately.
I need to find a good supplier of timber and fittings.
I live in Wollongong, but the main local supplier of cabinetmaking timber, Molloy Timber is closed till 9th Feb. I am hoping to make a start now, during my Christmas holidays.
Could anyone advise me about a good supplier of timber in Sydney or further afield?
I would also like to find a good supplier of fittings such as handles, hinges, glass door slides etc. I know that Bunnings has a lot of stuff, but they tend to only go up to a certain level of quality.
Thanks very much for any assistance.
Cheers
Phil

For your fittings try www.elraco.com they'll be delivered to your door, but they may take a few days being silly season an all.

Thanks for advice
Thanks to Harry and Pat for this advice.
I'll follow up the links.
Harry, I was interested to see that you're from Pt Pirie. I was actually born there but my family moved to Adelaide a couple of years later.
