Well after turning over a few dozen boards at a mates joinery shed I found this piece, not exactly the same as yours, but I think you will get away with it.

The way the global timber industry is set up nothing surprises me. We could get Canadian Hemlock framing studs in Cairns cheaper than local mixed species in the 1970's. Oregon shoring was the same. I have some recovered bench tops which were made from about 180 x 30 mm boards & supposedly of "Northern Silky Oak" but I'm not convinced that it is any local species of "silky oak." Your samples have similar flecking to what I have.
About 15 years ago a local timber merchant in Townsville was selling "purple heart" floor joists.

I don't disagree with you, Mobyturns. I went over to Anagote at sparrow's yesterday morning to rat through their stocks of Silky. No luck. So I asked about Lacewood. "We don't have a stick of it at the moment but it's often sold to us as Silky Oak", replied Simon. Aha!
After a lot of perseverance, Crocy has found me a suitable board so the problem is solved for now, thank goodness. Gotta love this forum.
