Default Looking for someone who can fill a hole and colour match for $$$

The title says it all really.

First off, i'm alex, i'm from malvern, victoria, australia.

I've recently acquired a drum. There is a clean cut hole approximately 1 cm x 1 cm which i'm hoping to fill and colour match it to make it unnoticeable

I have some woodworking products from the Mohawk company in america including:

    Coloured wood putty sticks
    Graining pens
many different "Blendal" sticks - (pigment sticks of different colours which can be used to colour match the wood putty to the same colour as the surrounding wood.)

i've had a go at filling the hole and colour matching it myself, but i'm not very good at it and i imagine there'd be many people on this forum who would be much better at it than me

i'd be willing to negotiate a price for the time taken (shouldn't take long) and the skills and artwork necessary

Filling the hole would not be a problem, making it look unnoticeable is another story. I am sure there will be someone who will be able to help you out.

Small holes can usually be fixed with some sawdust mixed with glue from the original piece of timber but not too sure that would me an invisible repair of a hole that size. I have also plugged holes with a plug of the same material and this may be your best bet. at least the grain can be oriented to match the existing run of the grain in the timber. This method may be the most successful but even then would be noticeable if you were looking for it..
I find trying to match the colour is not easy for me so can't advise you on that. I am sure some of the other guys on here may be able to give you some better advice. Good luck with it.

Hi jcostab,I can colour match and fake grain....but i'm in sydney....my suggestion to you is to troll your local yellow pages for a good french polisher / antique restorer as that is the most likely place you will find someone like me...otherwise if your ever in sydney drop on by, i'm based in seven hills
