Looking for a workwork equipment shop in Melbourne...
So being totally new to this hobby, I'm looking for a a woodwork equipment shop in Melbourne.
I'm in the southeast, in Narre Warren, so I would prefer something local if possible.
I'm looking to browse some different tools, maybe purchase a few blanks or cutouts to practise on as well as ask a few questions and get some advice on what and how to do my intended project.

Actually, maybe a list of suggested shops and their locations might be good too, if I'm out on the weekend I can visit a few

Sorry, I should have specified I am looking for hand tools, not power tools.

What brands are a good recommendation for a beginner? While I'd love set of Pfeil tools, they are realistically out of my price range and skill level, so I'm aiming to get something entry-mid level.
Are there any shops, other than Carba-tec recommended for hand tools?

That sometimes depends on what you are going to make.
As I am not aware of your current state of hand tools, this reply is going to be a general one. When I started I looked at what I needed to complete a task or project.
Lets take a saw for example. You can get these from any general hardware store, they will most likely be harden tooth and not able to resharpen. So after continual use you would dispose of this and turn it into a scraper for example.
The older saws dating before 1960's I think would be able to resharpen. Might be covered in grime and or rust. You might be able to pick these up from garage sales for as low as a dollar if the person does not care about it.
Now going by this example you can also look at hand planes, chisels, files etc.
I have a mixture of both brand new and second hand.
From the start I had a list of tools that I wanted, this list was very long and still is but I keep the list and my eyes open for any discounts or opportunity to remove one more item from the list.
