Saw them in person recently, and whilst I would not knock one back, was not overly impressed. They are beyond my budget.

Yep, Prices go up and customer service goes down. No wonder everyone is moving toward internet shopping

...ahhh yup...went to their Powermatic launch, was not overly impressed.
I bought a Powermatic 15" Helical Head Thicknesser from Gregories Machinery some 18 months ago for $3300.
They are now $4199, great machine but not worth that sticker price.

At $4195 European machines are in the same price range, I guess that PM won't be in the Carbatec catalogue for long.

    Default .

I see the Powermatic 25" drum sander is listed as 5HP single phase. Is this correct? Can 5 horses be run on 240v 1ph?

It'll draw about 16A continuous, (~3700W), so as long as the outlet is rated higher than that.

I also noticed the apparent price jump across a lot of lines in the catalog, not just the Powermatic/Jet stuff. I wonder if they were trying to get in before the Reserve Bank started trying to sink the Aussie dollar?
