    Default Maintenance reminder check your equipment!

    Hi Boys and Girls, just a little reminder on the maintenance thread I did at the end of last year. I worked right up to Christmas this year so haven't done my maintenace in the workshop yet. (Been doing some on my poor old Jeep Cherokee, it has needed some TLC too) So I will be doing some in the next few days before I fire back up into production so have a flick through last years thread and keep your tools and equipment in safe and reliable condition. A little oil, grease, an adjustment here and there may save you some dollars and time later on in the year when you would rather be making something than fixing something. Get out your manuals and check the settings, tighten or replace those dodgy or loose belts etc.

    Have my chisels and plane blades on the bench waiting for the time to devote to sharpening.
    Also need to do a bit of re-organising to make the place a bit more user friendly

    Yep, must be in the air - I've fixed a few things these last couple of weeks that have been waiting for 'round tuits', in some cases for years! Yesterday, I had a good clean & tidy-up in the shed, now I'm all ready for 2012.

    For a lot of people you can get away with it on the round tuit system but it can cost money if some things are left too long. For me its a mater of staying productive to earn a living but coming from a maintenance trade background it's always on my mind. I really enjoy my sharpening and polishing up of any little rust spots etc. Its great too when you know your table saw is cutting straight and your thicknesser isn't leaving snipe on the ends etc.
    I will have to do a little reshuffle on my tool wall, I was given an old bearded axe for Christmas that I will have snuggle in there somewhere May have to make the wall bigger.

    Viking type axe, bearded axe, japanese are also big on them. They are good to carve with as your hand is directly over the cutting edge. And just the look of it keeps the customers honest
