In Victoria there is the emu plains craft market where all sorts of crafts are sold (ie wood turnings, cabinets ect) is there anything like this in brisbane

Unfortunately, the markets in Brisbane compare poorly with Emu Plains, Red Hill, Mornington, etc. I've spoken to some market stall holders from North Queensland and they too have been disappointed with the markets in Brisbane.
The bigger markets tend to have either a lot of mass produced cheap imported stuff or trash'n'treasure. Some of the small suburban markets have some quality craft, but not a big range.
The Eumundi Market (Wednesdays and Saturdays) is pretty good if you want to travel and the Pine Rivers one okay. I've heard that the Mt Tamborine market that is held at the showgrounds is okay.

I agree with Tony re. the Eumundi Market. There's a stall there run by the Hermitage family, they make pretty nice furniture out of local hardwood. They also have a shop across the street from the market, and it's really worth a look if you're in the area. Here's a link for you to check out :
