Marble
I hope my bench come out:
However I selected white, with a grey vein through it as the bench top. I have been told that there is no finish I can put on the marble to stop staining.
Does anyone know if there is a preparation for marble, or should I keep sanding it off with wet and dry and wiping vegie oil on it?
The bench is made from North Coast Camphor Laurel, dried for 20 years. I was lucky enough to get a mix of light and dark that could be used together in a purpose contrast. There is a drawer at one end and the opening you see in the photo I store T towles on one side and a set of scales on the other. It is on castors.

couple of years ago I made a marble top bar.
It was 35mm MDF half rounded with router all four sides, then 2 coats red paint followed by 1 thin black coat. Let this harden for several days and lightly sanded 600 then with various size artists brushes painted streaks blobs and splatters of red, white, blue paint 2 months drying then again light sanding and 4 coats of 2 pack poly. Looked brillient then when gets rough or stained sand again followed by more 2 pack. No pics sob.I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

Ubeauts traditional wax works ok on marble as will most wax based floor polish. To get off light stains rubbing a piece of cuttlefish or a cake of solvol both with water added work well. Avoid stuff like red wine, beetroot and other heavy stainers, marble is porous so stains wiped off straight away are fine, anything left for a while can be a real problem. Your vegie oil is likely to leave a brown stain long term and I would avoid it.
