maybe not directly woodworking but of all the rotten luck
Almost finished my kitchen apart from the doors.
Went and got Sciatica, then Polymyalgia Rheumatica cause by a rock bottom Auto immune systen, can take up to 3 years to cure on high doses of Prednisolone, then Lupus grabbed the opportunity of my buggered inmune system. Doc didn't know whether to reduce the Prednisolone and increase the pain or what to do, so was told by a specialist to treble the Lupus medication. Auch my bank balance $356 for 12 days supply and I need 2 more doses
Bye bye renovations, stay in bed instead and do not come within sneezing distance of anyone with as much as a cold
Can I swear please?
WolffieEvery day is better than yesterday
Cheers

Geez! That is definately a case of never rains but it pours. And just the doors to go? Sounds like you need a renovation rescue. Whole bunch of woodies should turn up on your doorstep with tools and wood in hand. Bit far from my place though.:hmm

Hi Wolffie,
Sorry to hear about your troubles.
My SWMBO has been living with Lupus for the last 8 years. The specialist has put her on Cellcept (anti rejection drug for kidney transplant patients) and has helped her a lot.

That's terrible luck, look after yourself and get better soon.
But just think of all the planning you can do with that much time in bed!Cheers, Richard

Dear Wolffie,
Regarding the Lupus, I wonder how you'd go if you went for a daily dip for 30mins or so down at the beach? A little bit of sun, a little bit of salt water - might be worth a try... Would sure as heck help to clear the mind if you're stressed, which could be a part of the problem.
Might be a good time to kick any excessive bad habits too, like Fire-Sticks, Booze, Mud (I'm talking about Coffee), etc. They're not exactly going to help the system to cope...
You're taking it very patiently by the sounds of it.
Good Luck and God's Blessings,
Batpig.

Everything is relative. You have my sympathy, but consider:
Friend of mine got cronic fatigue. She used to be a classic 100 mph high achiever. first 18 months in bed pretty much 24 hours. The subsequent 4 years she can do a couple of hours a day. Every day she wakes up feeling like she's been hit by a bus and she has about another 4 years of it assuming she ever recovers. And there is secondary problems that go with it.
Lost her job, lost her life style, lost most of her friends.
No matter how bad it gets there is always someone worse off. You just gotta keep trudging along. Chin up.

Thats terrible news to hear! Why someone nice like you when there are so many world leaders who deserve that and more!
RossRoss"All government in essence," says Emerson, "is tyranny." It matters not whether it is government by divine right or majority rule. In every instance its aim is the absolute subordination of the individual.

I both emphasize and sympathize with you, but as was said above, there's always somebody worse off than yourself.
Hearing that doesn't directly help your circumstances, but indirectly it does if you hear it often enough as it prevents you feeling sorry for yourself and running yourself down even further.
Sorry if that sounds harsh. I know it works for me. I'm 52 and I haven't worked for seven years.
Drop me a message anytime if you'd like to talk about it..
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.

Dear Wolffie,
What a blow, I am deeply shocked by your illness. If you apply the same determination as you have demonstrated in your venture into wood work .. it will be behind you.
kind regards

Wolffie,
Go ahead and swear. There are times when a good rage is necessary.
I generally stay away from the health forum for all sorts of reasons but in this case I'll add my advice.
You are just entering the tunnel and can't obviously see the light at the end of it but believe me it's there.
Today I split a log into three pieces and carried it up the slope to the house.
Doesn't seem much but three years ago I suffered heart failure and then spent six months in hospital after contracting blood poisoning when the insertion of a defibrillator went wrong. The fevers burned away my body muscles to the point where even my voice went because the vocal chord muscles gave out. My wife, who was a cardiac nurse suffered more than I did because she knew how bad things were. Twice she reckoned I was not going to make it. The heart operation was such that I had one new valve and the other was banded to make it work, there was a hole in the heart and they had to take out the defibrillator before putting in a new combined pacemaker/defibrillator.
So when things get you down, remember two important things. Don't talk yourself into self pity and don't let people who mean well and want to help you ,make you an invalid. I'm sure you won't in the long run, but there will be down days The fight is all yours. PM me if you feel the need and remember -- Today I picked up the log splitter and split the bugger. I look forward to the day you tell us :I'm back and fighting fit."
