Anyone in Melbourne interested in making some beekeeping boxes, frames etc
Hi Everybody,
I have been toying with the idea of purchasing my own carpentry equipment to maufacture my own beekeeping boxes, frames, lids, bases etc... to do it propely it will cost me more to purchase the tools than it would to continue buying from a retailer. I was wondering if there was anybody in melbourne who might be interested in making some timber gear for me? I can provide samples of the bits and pieces i need as a guide... the construction is fairly simple - i'm going for rebated boxes rather than finger joins... the construction material is basic pine
Kind regards
Oz

Thanks Everybody for your replies... basically what i'm looking at having made is a few 5 frame nucleus hives along with the bits and pieces for 8 frame hives. I've attached as links some plans for both the 5 frame nucleus and the 8 frame Langstroth hive...
http://www.beesource.com/files/5frnuc.pdf these are the plans for the five frame nucleus hive - i'd be looking at rebated joins rather than finger joins.
Here are the plans for a 10 frame langstroth hive (only one i could find) i'm wanting to make 8 frame hives which apparently have a width of 13 3/4 inches. Also, in that plan there are other box dimensions too - i'm only interested in the outer cover, inner cover, deep hive body, and bottom board at this stage although i may look at getting the medium super made in the future http://www.beesource.com/files/10frlang.pdf Also, these plans show a cleat for handholds - i'm interested in making handholds using a molding cutter which gives an appearance like this

Just an additional bit of info i just got - that 13 3/4" width is an outside measurement assuming 3/4" timber is used
