Default Melbourne timber and working with wood show 2016

    Gooday .
I hope life is treating you well and that your as happy as you can be...
About a month ago I would have posted re "help" wanted at this coming show...but I got a text message from Liz, saying that they had sold my spaces to someone else and there was no room at this Melbourne show for my Bush crafts or Billinudgel Wood works..and no budget for the Canberra wood show to have me there.
SO...after very much consideration, gnashing of teeth, sleepless nights...(well almost sleepless...or may be a few toss & turns before being out cold), I have decided and told LIz, Stefan & Rick of "Impressive exhibitions" that I will no longer be doing the (much loved..for me ) wood shows.

I think I've done about 130 shows for Riddell exhibition promotions, DMG world Media, EEE, and Impressive exhibitions throughout Australia...Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra , Melbourne, Adelaide ,Perth, Hobart & Auckland New Zealand,.....
I have met some beautiful people, many quite old (and some have stopped coming to the shows and I have been worried that illness or age or old man death has come knocking on their door)....young children that over the 25 years have grown up and started bringing their children to the shows to meet me and have a go on a saw...or watch my shows, school kids that once were maybe a little disrespectful, that last couple of years have been showing some great respect and enjoyment from my shows or from the invites I have extended them to play one of my custom, sometimes possibly weird guitar creations.

I have made great friends and mate-ship with long & short term fellow exhibitors...the shows became a part of me that I will treasure forever...I really mean that....
The friendships I have made, make all other stuff small and insignificant..
Just the time I spent with helpers at shows warms my heart..I love each of you's like family.....thank you so VERY, VERY much...

SO....I will still be doing some really great shows in the future including : The Lost Trades Fair in Kyneton in Victoria will be a definite, a new one that Kevin & Kristine from Arbotec are organizing east of Margaret River will be another, Melaney, and a whole bunch more ....I have been doing some lovely little festivals with music & " folk" ...grass rootsy feel / themes...and I love them...they are real, I am with kids...(that I love)..and doing what i LOVE...
If your ever in Billinudgel nth NSW, stop in for a cuppa and a chat, I am working on a new website which will help place my unique skills at your computer at home and sell products many of you's have come to love...
I feel like mentioning all the folk I have met and love at the shows, many I know are members of this forum, you know who you are, we've eaten together, hugged, laughed, joked, even had some of you's dancing in my aisle ways at the shows...I'm going to miss every one of you's....fairdinkum!
I sincerely hope our paths will cross every once in a while....

Noelene is well, our boys are absolutely going off...(Doing really well), we have a 2 1/2 year old grandson...(who I reckon will one day ,be an amazing craftsperson),my hands, heart and mind are still pretty good...and I still love what I have been doing since a child...working with wood !
    Love to all...
    Big Stan

You will be missed at the show. We will have to come and find you else where

Sammy still talks about you and the saw race

Geez, I'm glad I got to know you before they pulled the pin on your shows. Anyone doing a demo on a tablesaw etc. would attract the attention of those in the area, but when you started up your spiel, you attracted the attention of the whole venue! Everyone who competed in the great saw races will remember fondly their visit to the show, and the musical interludes were a welcome break from spending the hard earned dollars on new toys and bits and pieces.

Ann, Chris and I will be calling in to Billinudgel on the way to Turnfest in March next year, so in the meantime, have fun and make plenty of shavings and a bit of music.

All the best to you and Noeline, and say G'day to Matt for us.

    See Ya,
    Alan...

We will see you at the Lost Trades Fair Stan.
Your demonstrations, stories, music and the wonderful humour have been a highlight of the show for me from the first show I have attended. My children have grown up being dragged around these shows and always ask to watch your "shows."

You will certainly be missed. Like Kevjed, I will be going to the Lost Trades Fair next year so will say hello there. Take care.

How could you be missed at the shows? You were a draw card.
Sorry you have not being asked to be part of the Melbourne (and Canberra) show.

While I have not been to too many recent shows, you were one that left a memorable impression, perhaps more than any other stand.

You will be missed by many.

What the other guys have said; you were the most memorable stand at any of the woodshows and I think Impressive Exhibitions may have made a bit of a boo-boo here.

Thank you for the entertainment, I'm glad I was able to watch a couple of your shows.

One of the best things that I enjoyed about the wood working shows was your participation. Please send my best regards to your lovely wife.

You surely have been missed at the last two shows especially by my son and my dad. My son absolutely loved the great saw race and he loves he's numerous bats and plaques you have given him over the years.

I will have to try and catch up with you elsewhere.

Thanks for all the great memories for us all.

How strange for them to say there was not enough room when the show was so much smaller than previous years. I went upstairs looking for more exhibits but the place was deserted. For me the show has been declining in size every year and is vastly different to the first one I attended years ago at Jeffs Shed.

Always stopped to watch your show Stan, thanks for the enjoyment.
