    I suspect someone took offence at my post about "undesirables". It wasn't an elitist comment, just a statement of fact. No fees, no security (or minimal at best). I work for my money too, and I get more than a little ticked off when some lazy basket would rather steal what I have earned than work for themselves.

    My reference to"undesireables" has nothing to do with how much a person earns.

    Was there today - met Ozwinner, Grunt, Stoppers, Neil, Zed threw faeces from up the pole, Soren, but not any more (of course they were probably there, but saw me and the cap before I saw them.....)

    There was some grumpy bugger with a cup of coffee too.

    Got out with minimal wallet damage....somehow.

    Sometimes leave the show feeling like a second-class citizen and not much of a woodworker. Either there's a bit of snobbery there, or perhaps it is just reality- seeing the real workers and their spectacular pieces.

    Wish I could afford some of the timber, but then, not knowing what is a good buy, I always feel like it is stuff that they haven't been able to move and are then trying to ship off onto the witless like myself.

    Ah well, there's always next year.

    The Pelican Poo is next to the hot dogs and chips. But $4 a bucket is a bit rich I think.

    I thought that the timber was cheap this year, saw a log of Cedar that was about 3M long X 400-500mm wide slabed into 50mm x 4 or 5, with a couple of "posts" about 150x150mm, plus other bits that was for sale for $2200.
    If I had a spare $2200 I would have bought it no worrys.

    Sure it will kev and not just the entrance fee . Also petrol for an 8oo km trip , meals for 2 days , 2 nights accomodation . Yep it will cost an arm and a leg but I'm sure it will be worth it .

    Wait for next years Sydney show, then catch the Spirit of Tasmania up to Sydney (before it finally goes belly up financialy).

    Have a holiday in Sydney and take your purchases back in the hold.

    We also had the ( mis) pleasure of meeting the line/que nazi.

    He stopped us from getting into the woodshow " because these ppl have been waiting for over half an hour in the que to get in".
    So they got there too early. :confused:

    He reminded me of the soup nazi from Sienfeld.

    No que for you.......
    When he finaly let us in there was a big Yeahhhh from the crowd.

    I bought, apart from some dryed offering for lunch, a Huon Pine log.

    Measureing about 90-100mm x 1200mm.
    I havent worked out what to do with it as yet, but I will think of something.

    Owwhh, and a book all obout old engraved hand piccys.

    Had fun today. Saw grunt and ozwinner (Those guys need bigger carnations) they introduced me to Christopher. Managed to spend a small fortune, though not as much as I did before the show (Guess whos getting a new laptop, thanks Mr tax man)

    managed to buy a burl and some weather station instruments for FIL's christmas present, also found a nice jewelry box kit in silky oak (not sure who is getting that wife or daughter) Drooled all over the tools I couldnt afford. Got lots of catalogue's and other paperwork for later usage.

    Some of the display work was just amazing, the talent out there is huge (and not just the makita girls), just wish I was that good, I guess I will just have to practice more .

    All in all Money well spent, it was worth the $30 to get in (Had to bring the minister of finance). Looks like I have a lot of shed time comming up until christmas
    I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.
