I decided that I'd make a coffee table out of the blackwood. All the wood that I got was only 30ish mm thick and I needed something for the legs. I got a piece that was about 2400 long by about 200x100. I'll rip it and make the legs 90x90.
I thought $45 was a good price for that.Photo Gallery

Yeah, I got carried away and spent more than $30. I went on Friday.
Though I'd get a few years worth of stuff from Ubeaut - wanted to say hello, but they were busy, busy, busy. That seems like a product recommendation to me. I got lotsa hide glue and some talc - I've been wanting to try the fake marble from the polishers book by Neil. Now to wait till the finances recover and I can get some dye's. Some polishes and sanding sealer managed to catch a ride home too.
Lee Valley got some dosh too, but luckily I couldn't find the Veritas MkII honing guide or else I'd be even poorer.
Damn Carbatec - their catalogue is now in my posession. Serious thumbmarks are on it already, and I'm caught between sticking to the investment plan and just spending all my dosh in one big hit.
I saw the demos by Richard Vaughan on tuning planes and sharpening - good value hey Waldo?
Hey AL - are you trying to corner the Huon market? Is the log part of a superannuation plan?
I forgot to wear the hat in all the excitement, but I didn't see any others anyway. Lucky I didn't wear the hat, I was wearing wool trousers and there may have been some major static buildup between the wool and the alfoil I've lined the foily with.
I looked for the Makita girl - no luck.
I also spent 20 minutes in the wrong queue before I got in.
Cheers all.

Yeah I thought the demo on the sharpening was good value, really wanted to see the tuning a plane demo but I was having a coffee with the likes of Sturdee, Scooter and gumby etc.
It'll still take me a while of fumbling to get the sharpening process right, the tuning - well even more fumbling.
Heck, I'm fumbling right now cutting passable dovetails after not having done one for about 19 years.

Major disapointment of the show was a lack of an organised exhibition of furniture. I was under the impression there was going to be one... The stuff there was passable, but most was student stuff. Ive beeen to a few shows in Sydney, Melb and Perth, and Perth has easly the best display of furniture. Highlight was the "Stunning" table top of Quilted Mango... I want some
