Thats my point, their wasnt any organised furniture exhibition except for individual stalls... According to thier web site i just looked at , Aukland, Sydney, Adelade and Canberra all had them, Perth uses different organisers and has them, so where was Melbournes! I just took it for granted being the greatest city in the known universe we would have had one...Slack and dissapointing:mad:

I entered the year before last with a Grandfather clock, got notification last year that the enteries MUST be kitchen based ie, chopping boards, spoons, etc.
I received no advise for this years show, so assumed it was all off.
I must admit I like to look at the standards of work around, other than my own.
Maybe they got paranoid about security, I know I was with my GF clock there for the whole weekend.

I spent about $60 on some nice Camphor, plus a few bob's worth on uBeaut stuff - and that was it.
Didn't really see anything that caught my attention as "must have" (as opposed to pure tool lust - ie the L.N. stand).
I tried to get another 305mm, 90tooth T/S blade to suit a 25.4mm arbor at Timbecon, which they had, but the queue at the till went from Ar$*hole to breakfast time, so gave up
Did see Rob (WoodBorer) on Friday, and Christopher at uBeaut, plus Tkiie when on the way in, and that was all.
Cheers!

Peter - I ran out of puff when at the MIK stand, and kinda stopped looking after picking up an item on the 'need' list. MIK was one of the last, and the part of their stand I walked in on had a cabinet of LV tools. I though I was on a peak, so I cut and ran before I had to get SWMBO to transfer $ to pay the parking.
Shame I forgot to wear the cap as I didn't see any others. I did a fly-by past the coffee shop at 10 ... couldn't spot the caps so it was off the the R. Vaughan demo. Would have been nice to put faces to posts. Oh well, all the excitement got to me I must admit.
Cheers all,
Clinton

Well i spent a little over $1000 today. Got the Gifkins jig & box cutter set, after watching Rogers demo, $10 off plus some plans, a DVD, and no delivery meant an ok saving, got some cheap bits & pieces, some camphor, and couble of jewelry box kits from mullumbimbi, in rosewood & silky oak, some back issues of wood review wasnt bad value, but was pi55 ed off at Triton guys. $389 for router which represents 2.5% disc over the stores, except that local bunnies still had them at $349 yesterday. The exhibitor knew about it but wasnt interested, trying to feed me some crap about how much they cost & how its the best in the world blah blah, so i called in to bunnies on my way home
Thanks Kev.

Al's Stick
Just did a quick calculation on Al's Huon Pine branch , cost him somewhere between $6,000 and $7,000 a cubic metre.
I'm sure that even our West Coast millers are a lot cheaper than that. For craftwood in that size, you can divide the price by around ten.

The Bunnings price on that router is $100 less than i paid about 18 months ago so you got a very good deal anyway. You won't regret it one bit.If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.
