    Default Merbau - Bar Benchtop

Hi All - Im new here.

I just finished a big merbau decking project, and now im building an outside bar - which i want to use offcut decking as the benchtop. Ive biscuit joined the lengths together, but im not sure whether i should have wet the lengths down first to bleed them out prior, or, do it before laquering it?

    All opinions welcome.

Should not be a problem if the bar is undercover and not going to be out in the rain. I built a merbau deck and as instructed I hosed the deck down a few times before oiling and you could see the tannin coming off. I have also used merbau for vice jaws in the shed and being dry all the time no problem with leaching.
    Regards
    John

You can use a solution of Napisan to help remove tannins.
